Cheerleading FAQ

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

1. What are the Fundraisers for the season?

  •  Fundraiser: Our cheerleading programs rely heavily on doing fundraising to keep our registration costs as low as they are, and to provide our cheerleaders with the uniforms, equipment and experiences they love.  Our fundraisers this season will be Our Gift Card Lottery tickets & one other fundraiser (TBD) for the Fall Season.  Winter Season will have an additional fundraiser as well.
  •  Fundraiser Opt-out: If you would like to choose to opt-out of doing the fundraiser, an opt-out fee that will be announced at time of fundraiser hand out.

2.  What all does cheerleading include for the Fall Season?

  • Practicing cheers/motions, tumbles, stunts
  • Attending football/soccer games to cheer at
  • Special events/parade: We currently do 3 parades

3. When will I hear from our director/coach about the season's start?

New & returning members - Once you register, you'll receive a confirmation email.  A short welcome email will be sent to all members registered with an update to keep an eye out for season start information.  Mid June, you will receive an information email on organization information and when to expect the season/practices to being.   Since registrations run thru the end of June, squads will not be set in stone until the beginning of July.

4. What do I do if I want to coach, be an assistant coach or be a Squad mom/parent?

SYA relies on volunteers to operate - as Directors, Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Squad Parents or practice helpers. We encourage as many parents as possible to help or volunteer as much as they can, when they can. If you are interested in being a coach, assistant coach, squad parent, etc., please contact Rebecca Jones at  Cheerleading@syasports.net or 610-428-4853

5. What is the indoor Competition Squad/Season?

Our indoor competition squads are a great way to continue to improve and hone your skills after the fall/football/Sideline season ends. Our indoor squads practice 1-2 days a week depending on the team, and they compete all around the Lehigh valley against other indoor teams within their division.

Registration for Indoor is an additional $100.

  * In order to join the indoor competition squads, you must have done a football season that same season, and be in good standing. *
