Spring is rapidly approaching!

Happy Groundhog Day SYA! Despite this Winter freeze, there are still a lot of hot things happening in February, through SYA and in the Lehigh Valley community...

For example, on Friday 2/6, The Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce is hosting a free event for Black History month at the Univest Public Media Center in Bethlehem. This event, starting at 6pm, includes live entertainment, a Black-owned business and resource expo, presentations, spoken word, hors d’oeuvres and a preview of the PBS documentary, Echoes of Freedom, followed by a panel discussion, including cast members who can give insights and tell stories about the project. Black History Month Celebration presented by the African American Business Leaders Council

For example again, on Saturday, 2/7, Lehigh University is hosting a National Girls and Women in Sports Day event that is highly discounted - buy one adult ticket to the 4pm Women's Basketball game (Lehigh vs. Holy Cross) and get one free ticket and registration for a youth (ages 2-14) to participate in their interactive youth sport stations with Lehigh Athletics Women's Programs in the Stabler Arena Lobby before the game (at 2:50pm); National Girls & Women in Sports Day - Lehigh University Athletics

AND, on the same day, for those who coach our girls' sports programs, or any girls' sports programs, Lehigh is offering a free virtual coach's clinic specializing in coaching female athletes. For example a third time, on Saturday 2/21, SYA is hosting our second Sweetheart Splendor parent-child Dance at SES. This event, running from 5pm - 8pm, will be the SES social gathering of the Winter and this year...we've got a basket raffle too!!! Welcome | 2026 Sweetheart Splendor | Salisbury Youth Association

Our Winter sports are wrapping up already (that must mean Winter is almost over, right?) and end of season banquets are coming up for Cheer, Basketball (3/7) and Wrestling (3/21).

Meanwhile, registrations are open for Spring sports: Baseball, Softball, Soccer and keep your eyes out for a registration coming soon...Flag Football.

There are some entry tickets left for Travel/Senior Baseball's Phantoms ticket raffle - You could win 4 tickets to the Phantoms for only $5 per entry. The winner will be drawn on Facebook Live once all the entry tickets are sold (there are only 40 total so those are pretty good odds!) Check it out at: SYA Senior / Travel Baseball | Facebook

Join us at our February SYA meeting, Thursday 2/19, 7pm in the SES library, where we will talk about how the programs are running, upcoming events, fundraising and we have 3 tickets to SES PTO's Purse Bingo event to raffle off to everyone who attends!

As always, opportunities to sponsor a team or an event for SYA are abundant and opportunities to help coach or organize with SYA are copious! Feel free to reach out to me to talk about volunteering (secretary@syasports.net) or to Brittney to talk about sponsorships (treasurer@syasports.net).
