1. Birth Certificates

   Q: My child was asked to present a copy of his/her birth certificate for baseball, but I have already given one for basketball. Do I have to give another one?

   A: Yes, you must turn in a new copy each time you are asked. Birth certificate copies are turned over to the league your child is playing in. These certificates are kept by the league. Also, SYA does not have the storage space or manpower to keep and maintain copies of all birth certificates.

2. Membership

   Q: How do I become a member of SYA?

   A: Anyone who is interested in furthering the goals and objectives of SYA is welcome to become a member. When you sign your child up for a sport, the family information on the registration form is entered into our database. All mailings are put together using this database. NOTE: If you are a member of the community who does not have a child in the program but are simply interested in helping, you must give your name, address, and phone number to the secretary in order to receive any announcements by mail.

3. Meetings

   Q: I would like to become more actively involved with the SYA. Am I allowed to attend the monthly meetings.?

   A: Yes. All members are welcome to attend our meetings, which are held the 3rd Thursday of the month at 8:00 p.m. in the SYA office. (During May and June, the meetings start at 8:30). You are also permitted to vote on all regular board business. For more information on upcoming meetings, check the website or the Morning Call.

4. Rainy Weather

   Q: It is raining, does that mean my son’s baseball game is cancelled?

   A: No. Although the game may be cancelled, you should wait for a confirming phone call from your son’s manager. If you do not receive a phone call, or the website has no information, you should go to the park at the scheduled time.
